Winter is coming! Before the snow starts piling up, here are some ways to prevent your heating bills from piling up as well:

  • Lower your thermostat. Did you know that for every degree you lower your thermostat, you can lower your heating bill by roughly 3%? For added savings, try lowering your thermostat by 5-10 degrees at bedtime (safety permitting).

  • Keep the warm air inside. Ensure that the windows are closed and locked. Open the curtains and shades during the day, and close them at night.

  • Remove anything blocking your vents. Check that there are no furniture or household items blocking the flow of heat to and from your furnace.
